BIKC (British Indoor Karting Championships) 2025 - NATIONAL FINAL RESULTS
After only one pre final practice (due to living so far away) it was final time! Thrilled to have made it from just under 5,000 entrants the day started with practice. Not a great result - 9th thanks to a poor performing kart that was later removed from service.
The heats started with Tom finishing in a respectable 5th place but heat 2 was a disaster - despite his best efforts his kart was unable to keep up with the pack - ending 10th and his worst result ever in a race 😭.
Remembering not to give up (despite pulling another average kart) Tom managed to qualify 3rd in heat three and thanks to lightning quick reactions pulled off a stunning overtake on the start moving straight into 2nd, after which he drove brilliantly to maintain the position at the chequered flag. Thats more like it!
The frustrating early heats led to a starting position of 5th in the semi final, needing 4th or above to make the final. Whilst tricky to overtake, Tom was maintaining and working on gaining, but unfortunately a desperate attempt from the kart behind to launch past when he didn’t have room meant he spun Tom out and left him in last. Again he knuckled down, despite knowing his chances of making the Grand Final were gone, and over the final laps of the race closed down a 2.5 second gap and overtook another driver as they crossed the finish line.
While the driver responsible got a 5 second penalty and Tom ultimately managed to make it back up to 8th it sadly ruined his race and chance to fight in the final. A real shame as the last battle of his first full year racing but out of Toms control - can’t always be on the podium and Tom has been fortunate to amass a large trophy collection in his first year - watch out for a full season review shortly to find out more!
