Grid Series Round 4 - Is it another podium? Read on to find out!

Monday 20th saw the fourth round of the Junior Grid Series at TeamSport Reading - and for the first time in Toms experience the grid was maxed out with 20 karts on track (!)

Practice - so much traffic! P9. Then the battles began.

With starting positions averaged for each driver, Heat 1 saw Tom start 10th - moving through the traffic to take 6th by the end of the race. Then for heat 2 Tom drew a 17th place start. Fortunately two drivers left moving him and others up two, placing him 15th for the start with a grid full of experienced drivers in front! Making up a fantastic 10 places, Tom finished 5th but ran out of time to tackle the rest. Heat 3 began with Tom in 3rd - he very quickly made it up to P2 but following a restart (after the leader had an accident on his own) he had an epic battle on his hands keeping Alex behind him to the finish line.

The points gained throughout the evening were tallied to give each driver their grid position, luckily Tom had done enough to earn pole for the Final! With Alex in 2nd it was a brilliant drive from them both with pretty much identical times the whole 15 mins of the race, but 9 minutes in Alex made it though to take the win, with Tom finishing a very close 2nd.

Fierce competition and great driving all round - Tom can't wait to race you again next time and see if he can get back to the top step next time!

Many thanks to Test Pro Consulting for their kind donation of this race and the final two Grid Series race sessions.

Pracice: P9 | Heat 1: P10 > P6 | Heat 2: P15 > P5 | Heat 3: P3 > P2 🥈 | Final: P2 🥈
