HOW IT ALL STARTED
From a young age Tom was obsessed by anything with wheels. From turning the steering correctly when being pushed in a toy car, avidly watching F1 or even devouring stats in annual Autocourse publications, it was inevitable that Tom would want to be behind the wheel ASAP!
Age 5, he had his first taste of speed at a bambino session at Sandown Park, but it wasn’t until a gift of a go-karting session in 2024 led to surprise from staff watching that he wasn’t a regular karter - and it was suggested he join the Race Academy at TeamSport Reading.
Working quickly through the stages, it became clear Tom has some talent, so in early 2025 he tried an outdoor test , was race approved and signed up as a Cadet in the F.A.T. Karting League Regional Championship 2025 the same day. Despite limited practice opportunities, he took the most race wins and finished as Vice Champion, earning an invite to the World Finals in the USA. He also made it to the National Final of the British Indoor Karting Championships (BIKC) 2025 - one of only 30 cadets to make it through from across the UK.
WHAT’S NEXT?
Tom will be participating outdoors in the F.A.T. Karting League Junior Light Regional Championship in 2026, and indoors in TeamSport Grid Series, and with any luck BIKC (British Indoor Karting Championship) 2026.
While Tom has been doing a great job with the minimal karting exposure we can afford, we're keen to find support & sponsorship to enable him to access variety of opportunities currently not open to him, for example extra practice, the chance to participate in world finals, in other championships and for the ongoing expenses such as safety equipment like neck braces/race suits, race boots etc as he continues to grow.
