BIKC (British Indoor Karting Championship) 2026 LOCAL FINAL – Reading
First time as a Junior – First time as BIKC LOCAL CHAMPION!
Having qualified in second place for the local finals over the summer (after his wrist fracture recovered just in time to get enough timed sessions in!), Weds 16th Sept saw the BIKC 2026 Local Finals take place at Teamsport Reading. With over 50 impressive junior entrants at Reading, Tom knew the competition was fierce.
The evening began with practice, and lap records quickly started being broken as the pace increased. Finally it was Toms turn and he proved he could keep up - by the end of the session he had put in a very respectable 30.256 – a new PB and top of the board from either group!
Then it was time to get down to business and try and qualify in the ‘A’ Final (where the top 6 spots earn a place in the next stage - Regional Finals). Ending up mid-pack Tom had a challenge on his hands due to the high standard of all involved and having to back off to make space every couple of laps but it paid off with P1and a new all-time track record of 29.924 to boot! To top things off he was presented with an epic decorated tyre as a result of taking pole.
The ‘A’ final began with a rolling start and the pressure fully on, but Tom handled it well pulling away from the off and managing his lead – pipping the others to fastest lap of the session too for a clean sweep, a 1st place Trophy and entry to the Regional Finals at Teamsport Birmingham next month!
Overall a night of lots of 1sts for Tom and a clean sweep for the night:
