Race Academy League – Teamsport Reading
A night of two races!
Monday 28th Sept saw Tom back at Teamsport Reading for Race Academy League and the chance of another trophy for the collection if he did well…considering the big accident he’d had on the Friday (see the previous post) we were wondering how he’d fare and if his confidence would be down…
On arrival in the pits we were told the night would be run as two races, with random starting order for the first race which would be reversed for the second. Tom was allocated 4th to start out of 7 drivers.
Race 1 – after a flying start Tom quickly worked through the pack to 2nd place behind good friend Jack – a battle ensued and they both got a bit carried away – literally to the side of the track allowing 2 drivers past leaving them 3rd and 4th. With a little time remaining, they both got back past with lessons learnt to finish on the podium with Tom taking 3rd!
Race 2
The reverse grid meant Tom was starting 4th again and he clearly meant business – early in the first lap he was already up a place to 3rd. With the top 3 neck and neck he took his time, passing 2nd to take the lead about half way through, pulling away to take the win at the end of the race and hopefully confidence from the accident fully restored!
The trophy is to follow as they’d run out of stock, so we’ll be back to pick that up and add it to his growing collection another day!
Race 1: P4 > P3🥉 | Race 2: P4 > P1🥇
