TeamSport Reading, Grid Series Round 1 Race Review:
Monday 19th Jan saw Toms first Grid Series as a Junior. We weren't sure what to expect but he was pretty pleased with the results! A series of 6 races over 6 months this was the first opportunity for the competitors to put points on the board...
With 3 heats building points for grid position in the final race, starting positions were allocated to give a fair balance for each driver across the 3 races.
HEAT ONE: Despite starting last, Tom made his way through the whole pack in the 10 minute session - crossing the line 1st. Unfortunately he earned a 5 sec penalty for accidentally loading, dropping him to 5th but with a clear incentive to pass even more carefully in the next round! P11 > P5
HEAT TWO : Tom started 3rd with some fast paced drivers ahead. Despite this Tom persevered and made it to 1st for the win. P3 > P1
HEAT THREE: Tom started 4th & progressed through quickly to 2nd but 1st place driver Ollie was too far ahead to catch - 2nd it was! P4 > P2
THE FINAL: The combination of his heat results put Tom on pole for the Final, and he made the most of it pulling away and finishing 16 seconds ahead of Jack in second place, with fastest lap under his belt to boot!
