Race Academy League

Another time-setting session for BIKC 2026 Qualification!

Monday 10 August saw Tom back post-injury at Race Academy League at @teamsportreading following the fantastic news his wrist has fully recovered from its fracture!

Taking the format of a qualifying session followed by a race, the field was very competitive, with most there to try and get their times up the leader board for BIKC qualification, including Tom.

With two times set prior to his wrist injury and having missed the majority of the really hot temperature sessions (where times typically are at their peak) the pressure was on! Despite that he hit the ground running, settling into the session and starting to light up the timing board. Eventually he popped in a fantastic 30.659, his personal best, ultimately taking pole for the race to follow.

The race began with a rolling start, and the drop in pace from Tom was clear from the off in comparison to the previous session. Sadly it was a slower kart so a defensive drive was in order. Tom clung on as long as he could (visually ducking to try and glean any extra time possible) but with his times well off his overall pace, Daniel got past to take the lead leaving Tom to defend 2nd place to the chequered flag.

While things didn’t pan out as he’d have liked, another trophy for the collection was a plus, and a great time to help bring down his average and make his qualification for BIKC valid (you need 3 times to confirm your entry)!

With only a few weeks to the end of qualification (and Tom unable to make sessions in the final week) we’re just relieved he could finally put in a third time, hopefully bumping him up the rankings despite a slow first time out early in the qualifying period when the weather was cold!

With two more sessions booked, it’ll be interesting to see where he ends up on the final table with over 52 junior competitors signed up so far! Congrats to Daniel on his 1st and Zach on his 3rd place in this race.
